It is fitted with a cupped steel butt plate. It is fitted with a correct laminated stock and hand guard with a single “eagle/WaA” 135 proof on the right side and a smaller proof inside the pistol grip behind the trigger guard. It has the correct mid-war style bolt with a rib on the side. It has the earlier style all milled components: barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate. The left side of the receiver and barrel are marked with a single “eagle/swastika” firing proof and the left side the receiver side wall is stamped “Mod.98” in small block letters. The receiver ring is marked with the “eagle/135” acceptance proof over “byf/ 42”. This is a very good example of a mid-WWII German 98K rifle manufactured by the Mauser Werke in Oberndorf.
